1-800 Happy Birthday is an exhibition honoring Black and Brown lives killed by police.

During the exhibition we unveiled an extension as a public installation in McCarren Park, Brooklyn, NY. The upcycled telephone booth is an interactive sculpture that invites passersby to stop and listen to voicemails left for all 12 of the celebrants honored in the 1-800 Happy Birthday exhibition. It includes quotes and photos of the celebrants on the exterior, and is solar powered to work 24/7.

As a non-profit committed to supporting engaging public art and exhibitions, we have collaborated with the NYC Parks Department and members of the Bushwick and East Williamsburg community to extend the exhibition beyond their walls and into the surrounding neighborhood.

This project is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
