Cherilyn Kurtz

Cherilyn Kurtz (she/her) is a photographer, interdisciplinary artist, and educator based in New Jersey. She was born in Iowa, raised in Ohio, and spent eight formative years making photographs in Indiana. She constructs scenes for the camera and documents immediate surroundings, often against the background of motherhood. Presently, she is attracted to the animacy of objects and the intersection of photographs and sculpture. Cherilyn received her MFA in Studio Art from Rutgers University (2020) and a BS in Photography from Indiana Wesleyan University (2009). Cherilyn received a 2024 Fellowship from the New Jersey Council on the Arts and is currently a part-time lecturer between Rutgers and Middlesex College.
