RESIDENT PHOTOGRAPHER - EAST WILLIAMSBURG
WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is pleased to announce the sixth neighborhood for FREE FILM : NYC. After traveling through the city and making stops in Red Hook, Lower East Side, South Bronx, Sunset Park, and Harlem, the FREE FILM : NYC project makes a last stop in WORTHLESSSTUDIOS’ own neighborhood East Williamsburg!
We are looking for a local photographer (East Williamsburg/Bushwick) for a one-month-long residency in our Airstream mobile darkroom, starting mid-February 2024. The Airstream will be parked in front of our 10,000 square-foot warehouse at 7 Knickerbocker Ave and will serve the resident as a studio and private darkroom. The application period starts on November 15th, and the final date for submissions will be December 15th. The selected Resident will be announced in January.
The Resident Photographer will be required to:
Have a strong film photography background, a close relationship with the neighborhood, and experience and enthusiasm for teaching.
As a resident photographer, you will be asked to be a face of the project, lead educational workshops in our neighborhood and help curate the FREE FILM : NYC book.
Develop and teach 1-2 workshops and photo walks during the period of the collaboration.
Be involved in photographic community-based projects.
WORTHLESSSTUDIOS will provide:
$2,500 stipend for Artist.
24/7 access to Airstream Darkroom for 1 month
Use of darkroom equipment and chemicals for personal work
5 rolls of Kodak Tri-x 400
Seat on the photo selection committee for the book
WORTHLESSSTUDIOS will need:
Your development of the public program curriculum
Your teaching at 2 youth workshops
Your teaching or running of 2 public workshops or photowalks
Your timely participation and collaboration in meeting with the selection committee to finalize a selection of images for the book
